Wendy Lund, 2019 MM&M Agency Entrepreneur of the Year

10/11/2019

Wendy Lund leads GCI Health, a company she’s built into one of the industry’s most successful specialty healthcare communications agencies. Since Lund joined the firm in 2010, GCI has transformed from a boutique healthcare shop into an award-winning, fully integrated agency, pushing boundaries and inspiring change in healthcare marketing.

With her entrepreneurial drive, Lund spent the last eight years leading GCI’s double-digit revenue growth, continuing the streak this year with a staggering 40% increase in revenue, bringing on 27 new accounts with a profit margin growing to 42%. Her focus on operational improvements has led to doubling the agency’s digital and creative teams, adding critical in-house capabilities such as video production, making significant hires in global health/CSR, corporate communications and business development support, and prioritizing regional expansion.

She continually challenges convention with her relentless pursuit of ideas that inspire, activate, transform and deliver results. Her boundary-busting work for leading clients has catapulted GCI’s success.

Before GCI, Lund was with MS&L for more than 10 years, rising from a VP in healthcare to the most senior woman at the company. She started her career in marketing with several large nonprofits, including the United Way, and was VP of marketing at Planned Parenthood Federation.

Lund is an advocate, advisor and activist, passionate about creating good leaders. She drives her teams to work harder, think better and dream bigger. And she also fosters an incredibly nurturing, supportive and collaborative environment, inspiring loyalty and admiration throughout the agency.
